We all are travelers. Some dwells around the marks around the globe, some along the depth of the soul. Lexie Alford is the youngest globe trotter, for her both are complimentary to each other
Lexie Alford, a 21-year-old American woman has achieved quite a feat by becoming the youngest person on earth to travel to all the countries in the world. Lexie hails from a small town called Nevada City in California. She has been travelling from a very young age as her family had started a travelling business 30 years ago.
According to Lexie her parents placed a lot of importance on exposing her to every way of life around the world. She claimed that it had a very profound impact on the person that she is today. She always had a curiosity about other people’s ways of life and how they find happiness.
Lexie has graduated from High School and has earned an associate degree in her home state. She officially broke the Guinness World Record for the being the youngest person to travel to every country by over 3 years.
This 21-year-old American woman claims she is now the youngest person to have visited every country in the world.
Alford has travelled all alone to 50 or so countries throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, Central, and South America, the Caribbean and the South Pacific Islands. She shared a photo on her social media accounts with a caption that read “officially traveled to every country in the world”.
Though she didn’t intend to create a record initially, she was quite content being a traveler. Alford got serious during 2016 and started working on her mission to travel to every single sovereign country and break the Guinness World Record.
The youngest globetrotter managed to beat James Asquith from the UK, who holds the Guinness World Record of travelling to all sovereign countries
At 18, Alford realised that she had already travelled to 72 countries and that was the first time she thought about breaking the world record. She has managed to visit Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Senegal, Mauritania, Algeria, Gambia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Côte D’Ivoire, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Chad, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Cameroon, São Tomé, Gabon, Seychelles, Mauritius, Lesotho, Swaziland, Comoros, Madagascar, Mozambique, Equatorial Guinea, Rep. of Congo, and Central African Republic , to 50 or so countries throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, Central and South America, the Caribbean and the South Pacific Islands.
Alford has an inclination for off beaten places like Pakistan and Venezuela. The most attractive thing that Lexie found about Islamabad is their gorgeous and stylish women and their beautiful clothes.
In order to become the new Guinness World Records title holder, Alford has to submit nearly 10,000 pieces of evidence of her travels in chronological order. The traveler began saving up from the age of 12 to fund her goal of visiting all 196 sovereign nations on the planet. She never again looked back on the promise.
Alford’s mission was completely self-funded she made ends meet with a few branded deals throughout her journey, in addition to some photography and blogging work while abroad, plus her savings.
To inspire other young women who also want to experience the world like her, Lexie, decided to let people around her know that the world is not as scary and unkind as virtually it is portrayed.
One of Alford’s absolute favourite places is Angel Falls in Venezuela. She also loved visiting Northern Pakistan, the natural beauty of the mountains and kindness of the locals was astonishing. She says there is barely any tourism in the country because of negative stereotypes about the country in the media.
Lexie says that traveling to the misunderstood places of the world gives one a pleasant surprise encountering sudden beauty and joy. Lexie is all set now to submit her 10,000 evidence to Guinness World Records in chronological order, document her travel and secure her title.
Though the formal accreditation process will likely be lengthy. This young adventurer is now gearing up for her next destination is Mount Nyiragongo in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to see the world’s largest lava lake.
Lexie’s advice to the younger generation is that people need to set their goal, work upon it and prioritise the goal. It is only a matter of time to make one’s dreams a reality.
