Statement made on Twitter by Gaurav Gogoi, MP,(LS)
India’s ranking has fallen two places from 127 last year to 129 this year as per the Global Gender Gap Index. We lag behind all our neighbours in the region including Bangladesh, China, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Bhutan.
Women in India today are worse off in terms of educational attainment, political empowerment and economic participation. The BJP/NDA government’s talk on women empowerment in the last decade is mere rhetoric with no basis in reality.
