Indian Army rescue team launched to rescue trapped miners in Umrangso, Assam

On being requisitioned for assistance Indian Army mobilized a Relief Task Force to rescue the miners trapped in Umrangso, a remote industrial town in the Dima Hasao district of Assam on 06 Jan 2025. The Task Force is comprised of a specialist team that includes divers, engineers and other trained personnel in rescue operations.

The team has been adequately equipped to undertake sensitive and time-critical tasks in a coordinated manner under the supervision of a senior and experienced officer. The authorities are in constant touch with the civil administration for regular updates for a speedy rescue of the trapped miners.
