Frustrated by the ongoing neglect of road infrastructure, locals along the Mayai Lambi State Highway took drastic action today by digging up sections of the road. Despite numerous appeals to authorities, the road has remained in a dilapidated state with little to no progress on repairs.

Mayai Lambi, a vital state highway connecting various towns and districts and linking to the Trans-Asian Highway, has long been plagued by inadequate road conditions. The highway, which remains a two-lane road, is unable to accommodate the rising traffic volumes, leading to frequent accidents due to its limited capacity.

As part of their protest, four women activists were arrested after they used pickaxes to dig up parts of the highway. Following their detention, a large group of women gathered at the Wangoi police station, demanding the immediate release of the arrested individuals.
