We are in a race against a virus – not against each other
The UN Secretary-General issued an urgent call to world leaders to come together to create a Global Vaccination Plan for COVID-19 . The new vaccines are our best hope of ending the pandemic – but until all countries can access them equally, the virus will keep spreading.
To keep us all safe, we need to ensure that doses are shared fairly around the world – now.
But currently, 130 countries do not have access to the vaccines. Richer countries are buying more vaccines than they need, leaving other countries to go without. 75% of the doses administered so far have been given in only 10 countries, leaving billions of people without a chance of a vaccine, including those risking their lives on the frontlines of the pandemic.
We are in a race against a virus – not against each other. All countries need access to the vaccine now to help end the pandemic.
